2019 Hyundai Veloster Review

Completely redesigned for the new model year, the 2019 Hyundai Veloster comes to market with exciting features and its trademark design. This review of the Veloster will give you an idea of what to expect on your drives through Ithaca, Vestal, and Sayre.

The Maguire Hyundai sales team will be happy to schedule any test drive and show you the current inventory of Veloster models available here at our dealership.

Performance and Design

The 147-horsepower 4-cylinder engine featured as the base offering in the 2019 Veloster has a peppy sort of feel to it, and that's due in part to the sport-tuned suspension. The rear suspension featuring Torque Vectoring Control provides a certain stability when tackling a tight corner or winding road. The 7-speed dual clutch transmission provides the benefits of automatic and manual, and the available wheel-mounted paddle shifters give you control over when you choose to shift.

The turbocharged 1.6L engine, which delivers 201 horsepower, gives drivers a bit more power. It's a better choice for those who do a lot of highway driving. Due for release later in the 2019 model year, the Veloster N will provide up to 275 horsepower.

As for this vehicle's unique design, it features one door on the driver's side with two on the passenger side. It's one of the few cars available on the market today to have that design, but it's easy to access the cabin whether driving or just riding along.

Inside the 2019 Veloster Cabin

The Hyundai Veloster cabin has been revamped so it's more driver-focused. The available leather-wrapped steering wheel is easy to grip and puts you in control, whether changing the audio, using the paddle shifters, or using the Smart Cruise Control feature. There's plenty of cargo space for groceries, luggage, hiking equipment, or whatever you're bringing along, with 20 cu. ft. behind the rear seats and 44 cu. ft. with the rear seats fully folded.

Smartphone integration is easy, using the standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ technology. Link up a smartphone to the touchscreen and read text messages, play songs, or use available apps. The 7-inch touchscreen comes standard, but a larger 8-inch screen is available.

Safety Comes Standard

A long list of standard safety features offer a certain peace of mind for drivers. Driver Attention Alert is one of them, providing audio and visual cues if the system detects drowsy or distracted driving. Lane  Keep Assist comes standard, as well. This will warn you if the car is drifting from its lane and guide the Veloster back into a favorable position if needed.

Those features, combined with the standard backup camera, have you all set when it comes to safety. Explore these features, along with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, to see how the Veloster is making drives safer.
